Trail 1: Boka Waterfall – viewpoint plateau

Starting directly from Glamping Gozdna Jasa, this easy and enjoyable walk offers two route options. The first and simplest leads to the Boka viewpoint plateau, a stunning vantage point where you can admire Boka, the highest waterfall in Slovenia.

From the glamping site, follow the path down to the main road and turn right. After just a few metres, look for a yellow hiking sign on your right that points you onto a forest trail. This peaceful path brings you to the Boka Bridge, where you’ll get your first glimpse of the dramatic limestone cliffs and the deep turquoise river carving below.

Take a moment here—the setting is breathtaking—then cross the bridge. On the right-hand side, you’ll find a marked trail ascending gently through the forest toward the viewpoint plateau. The climb is short and manageable, and within about 30 minutes you’ll reach the lookout.

From the plateau, you can enjoy a clear, wide-angle view of Boka Waterfall, which plunges 106 metres in its first drop, followed by a second cascade that brings the total height to an impressive 144 metres. Fed by an underground karst spring, Boka is especially powerful in spring and after heavy rain, creating a dramatic, thundering spectacle.

All in all, this route takes about one hour round trip and is perfect for a relaxed outing right from your glamping doorstep.

Trail 2: Boka Waterfall – hiking to the top of the waterfall

If you’re looking for a hike that blends raw alpine scenery, quiet forest paths, and a touch of adrenaline, the trail to the top of Boka Waterfall is one of the most rewarding adventures in the Soča Valley. This route takes you above the waterfall itself, where you can stand just metres from the roaring water and look deep into the powerful gorge carved by the Boka stream.

It’s not the easiest trail—but that’s part of what makes it so special. So how do you get it done you ask?

Across the bridge, look for marked signs on the right indicating the trail to the top of the waterfall (Slap Boka – izvir). The path immediately begins to climb through mixed forest, giving you shade and cooler temperatures during summer.

This section is steep, but the trail is well-maintained and zig-zags enough to make the ascent comfortable. As you gain altitude, several open viewpoints appear between the trees. These make perfect rest stops and great places to appreciate the sheer scale of the waterfall. The last section becomes rockier and more rugged, typical of the Slovenian karst landscape. Red-white trail marks guide you through boulders and ledges. Take your time—this is the steepest part.

Eventually, the forest opens and you enter the upper basin where the Boka stream gathers its strength. Here, the water emerges from the massive karst spring. Reaching the top is a moment of awe. You stand at the brink of the waterfall, looking down into the vast drop where the water disappears. In spring, when snowmelt feeds the spring or after heavy rain period, you’ll feel the ground vibrate from the water’s force.

There are several natural platforms where you can safely enjoy the view, but caution is essential: edges are uneven and can be slippery when wet!

Trail 3: Virje Waterfall – circular route

The walk from Glamping Gozdna Jasa to Virje Waterfall  is one of the most peaceful and rewarding routes you can take straight from your tent. It’s a 4 km long trek one way and it combines forest paths, quiet village lanes, and the soothing beauty of the Kanin foothills

Begin your walk just behind Restaurant Žvikar, where the trail is clearly marked. The path first leads through the neighbouring campsite Adrenalin Check, and then toward the small Plužna hydroelectric power plant.

When you reach the power plant, you can choose between two routes:

Option A – The Stair Route (333 Steps)

Climb the 333 steps beside the plant. About 20 meters before the top, turn right and pass under the large metal water pipe. From here, continue straight into the forest on a peaceful, well-marked path.

Option B – The Gentle Forest Route

Connecting to the Trail Toward Plužna

Walk past the staircase and continue toward the Bovec golf course. Soon, you’ll see a forest path branching uphill on your right. Follow this path as it climbs gently through the trees—it will eventually merge with the trail from Option A.

Choosing Between Route Options

Both routes lead you to the same place, so choose depending on your mood and energy. This section of the hike is peaceful and shaded, making for a pleasant transition toward the upper valley.

Reaching the Historic Plužna Accumulation Lake

The first major landmark you’ll reach is the Plužna accumulation lake, a small reservoir built between 1927 and 1931 as part of the region’s early hydroelectric system.
It’s a calm, scenic spot—on still days, the surrounding mountains reflect beautifully on the surface. Continue following the trail along the lake’s edge.

Optional Detour to the Glijun Stream

Just before crossing the wooden bridge, you can turn left for a short detour to the Glijun stream, the powerful karst spring that feeds Virje Waterfall.
The water here is crystal clear with a stunning turquoise hue—worth the few extra minutes. After your visit, return to the bridge.

Crossing the Bridge and Continuing Toward Virje

Cross the wooden bridge and follow the concrete path uphill. Once you reach the small parking area, turn right and continue straight on the marked trail.

Arriving at Virje Waterfall

In just a few minutes, you’ll arrive at the breathtaking Virje Waterfall (Slap Virje)—a wide, multi-tiered cascade plunging into a radiant emerald pool.
This is one of the most photogenic spots in the Soča Valley, so take your time soaking in the scenery and capturing the moment.

Returning Toward Plužna Village

To continue your loop, head back to the parking area and walk uphill toward the charming village of Plužna. The path soon brings you into the quiet village center.

Walking Through Plužna Toward the Golf Course

In the middle of Plužna, pass through the narrow passage between two houses. From here, follow the signs toward the Bovec golf course.
This stretch leads you along a scenic asphalt lane with open views of the surrounding mountain peaks.

Descending to the Soča River

Just before reaching the nearby houses, look for a gravel path on the left.
This picturesque forest trail winds down to the Soča River, where you’ll follow the riverbank downstream until the path reconnects with the main road.

Final Stretch Back to Gozdna Jasa Glamping

From here, Restaurant Žvikar will be visible ahead. Follow the signs back to Gozdna Jasa Glamping, where a well-earned rest—and maybe a cold drink—awaits after your scenic day out.

Stay on the trail until you arrive at the stunning Brijeka Bridge, a serene spot surrounded by crystal-clear riverbanks.
This is an excellent photo opportunity and a peaceful place for a short rest or picnic.

Crossing Hanging Bridges Toward Vodenca

Cross Brijeka Bridge and turn left. From here, the path is straightforward—simply continue walking.
You’ll soon cross another classic Soča Valley hanging bridge before reaching the campsites in Vodenca.

Climbing Gently Into Bovec Town

From the campsites, follow the gentle uphill asphalt road leading directly into Bovec town.
Take your time exploring Bovec—grab lunch, enjoy a coffee, or browse for local souvenirs. With its warm alpine atmosphere, Bovec is the perfect midway rest point.

Walking Toward Plužna Village

After your break, head uphill from the main square toward the church. Stay on the asphalt road as it winds toward the peaceful and charming Plužna village.

When you reach the village center, turn right and follow signs for Virje Waterfall.

Visiting Virje Waterfall and the Gljun Stream

The path soon leads you to breathtaking Virje Waterfall, one of the most photogenic spots in the entire Soča Valley. Surrounded by mossy rock walls and emerald pools, it’s an unforgettable highlight.

From Virje, continue along the trail to the nearby Gljun Stream and the historic Plužna accumulation lake, dating back to the early 20th century.
The trail loops around half of the lake, offering tranquil forest scenery.

Descending Toward the Bovec Golf Course

Once you reach the chain marking the road closure, turn left and descend through the forest toward the Bovec Golf Course.

Walk through the golf course until you reach the main road. Turn right and continue for a short distance until you see the familiar hydropower plant—the same one you passed earlier in the day.

Following the Soča River Back to Gozdna Jasa

Just before the nearby houses, look for a gravel path on your left. This charming forest track brings you down to the Soča River.
Follow the river downstream until the trail reconnects with the main road.

You’ll soon spot Restaurant Žvikar ahead. From here, simply follow the signs back to Gozdna Jasa Glamping, where a well-earned rest—and perhaps a drink—awaits.

Trail 5: historical walk to Poljanca

If you’re looking for a peaceful hike that blends nature, history, and a touch of mystery, the walk from Gozdna Jasa Glamping to Poljanca is a perfect choice. This route takes you through quiet forest paths and open meadows, eventually leading to one of Bovec’s lesser-known historical sites. This area is carved by World War I stories, old military routes, and traces of past settlement.

The trail starts behind the campsite going towards the climbing wall. Take the right turn and follow the path upwards. After 20 minutes of walk through the forest slowly uphill you will meet a crossroad with a board marking two different routes (Virje 1, Virje 2, viewpoint and NOB) .

Take the route for NOB and continue straight passing the ruins of an old barn. Before reaching the top you will see another sign NOB and Virje, again choose NOB and you will soon see the historical monument dedicated to lost human lives of Partisans, resistance fighters in the area.

Returning back you can take the same route or walk to Virje waterfall and then return through golf course back to glamping.
